Latest Update (24th March 2022)

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought many miseries to Malaysians. It disrupts life and has taken lives. The government took many measures to control the pandemic. However, the control measures generate a chain of other challenges that affect many aspects of Malaysians’ livelihood. Almost all social structures are affected, and the social equilibrium enjoyed by Malaysians before the pandemic erupted has been disturbed. Malaysians are undergoing a difficult period that should be recorded in the history of Malaysia as the most grueling period since the formation of Malaysia that is caused by a disease.

While the pandemic is rummaging Malaysia, the government, media, and other organizations produce various reports concerning its development. These reports detail the advancement of the pandemic. Different information concerning the measures taken to control the pandemic and implications of these measures are being produced too. In other words, there is plenty of information related to the pandemic are circulating. Since the size and diversity of information related to the pandemic are massive, this project aims to create a platform that organized and record the developments of the pandemic and its impacts in Malaysia systematically. In order to do so, this projects aim to create a virtual timeline and a digital archive.

The timeline will show the outbreak of the pandemic chronologically in Malaysia. Information related to measures taken by the Malaysian government will also be recorded. The timeline will also categorically describe the impacts of the pandemic to Malaysians (health, economy, education, politics and other social implications). All the sources of the information provided in the timeline will be kept in a digital archive. We hope to become a one-stop center for researchers, policymakers, and the general public to know about the overall development of the pandemic in Malaysia. Knowledge is vital for all Malaysians. It enables them to keep tabs on the pandemic information and devise better strategies to handle pandemic that is happening now and in the future.
